3:15 p.m. Central European Time was the time yesterday: Vega-C, a new launch vehicle of the European Space Agency ESA, took off for its first flight into orbit. On board is the LARES-2 (Laser Relativity Satellite 2) Satellite. It is a passive satellite, which is monitored from ground station lasers that will measure the frame dragging, or the Lense-Thirring effect, which is a distortion of space-time caused by the rotation of a planetary body, like earth. The Vega-C was equipped with the Interstage 1/2 structure that was developed and qualified by #Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands. The test experts of Applus+ IMA Dresden were on the road in Dresden's rail network for a mobile test run: For our customer Alstom, we tested the new streetcar of the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG, the "2902", which is wider than the previous model. Our team spent two weeks setting up the measuring system, installing over 170 sensors in and on the vehicle. Then the 2902 was allowed to show, what it can do for three days. It travelled over 300 kilometres criss-crossing Dresden, mainly on the route of Line 2, but also everywhere where the wider train is already allowed to travel - such as on Augustusbrücke. Our new all-round device for hardness testing is now fully operational! For the commissioning and calibration of our @ZwickRoell EMCO-TEST DuraVision 20G5 we thank @Latzke Härteprüfung GmbH. Finally, we have now been able to present the device at the regular reaccreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 and in the @Airbus on-site audit, thereby demonstrating the reliability of our results. The universal hardness tester is equipped with inventers for Vickers, Rockwell and Brinell testing as well as 3 objectives. The longer the trade fair lasts, the higher the guests - Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer visited our booth at the ILA in Berlin today. Our spokesperson Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Fleischer and Dr. Silvio Nebel, our Head of Department Aerospace, discussed with the politician, among other things, the participation of Saxon companies in ESA space projects and in defence projects such as the FCAS fighter jet. Together we test (almost) everything: This is the message we are conveying with Applus+ Laboratories to our visitors at the Automotive Testing Expo (ATE) in Stuttgart until tomorrow. The ATE is one of the most important trade fairs in the automotive sector. No cars, buses or trams. This year, we are using Road Safety Day as an opportunity to show you what the roads would look like without the inspections and tests carried out by IMA Dresden. After more than 2 years without on-site NADCAP MTL audit we are happy to announce that IMA Dresden has successfully passed the full scope reaccreditation audit. The NADCAP accreditation is an important key to show our customers the fulfilment of special aerospace requirements. Furthermore we extended our NADCAP MTL scope by microhardness testing.
