Material testing

The initial question always concerns the material. Our basic principle tests provide you with the ideal basis from which to extend your store of knowledge and to increase your trust in variant assessments. For decades, the results of numerous tests have been expanding our WIAM® materials database.

We determine Wöhler and service life curves, test materials, also under extreme temperature and climate conditions and investigate the effect of media.

We determine the life and character of adhesive bonds, of welded and other mechanical joints, record and analyse the fracture behaviour of fibre composites, examine deformation and strength under static loading and behaviour under cyclical loading. Finally, we perform acceptance and approval tests on materials and monitor your production. The flexible accreditation through the DAkkS enables us to test materials to different standards and also to develop new test methods.

Our materialography laboratory investigates friction and wear behaviour under mixed frictional conditions, at high and low temperatures and with different rates and loads.


Materials database

Our company has been developing databases for many years, including WIAM®, in which significant material properties are systematically integrated. Today you can search the properties of more than 6 000 materials, 180 000 modifications - more than four million entries - including high-alloyed steels, aluminium, magnesium, nickel, titanium, plastics and fibre-reinforced plastics.
